About me

Hello!

I’m a Korean American poet currently residing in Washington, D.C. I was born in Seoul and grew up in Northern Virginia with my two younger sisters. I went to school in Baltimore at Johns Hopkins where I studied both creative writing and film and media studies. After graduating, I moved to Charlottesville to pursue an MFA in poetry at the University of Virginia. In addition to teaching composition and intro poetry workshops to undergrads, I worked in the restaurant industry and at the local farmer’s market. I graduated in 2020. During the pandemic, I moved to Brooklyn, where I worked at Beam Center, a youth development non-profit. Most recently, I worked at the fundraising team at the Folger Shakespeare Library. Currently, I am writing my first collection of poems.

In my free time, I watch movies, cook, eat, and take photos on my Minolta or my Ricoh GRII. You can see what I’ve been watching, cooking, and eating by following me on Letterboxd or Instagram. I took all the photos featured on this site, with the exception of the photos of me above, which are credited in their respective captions.
